Dade Medical College, in its continuing support of the high-demand nursing profession, offers a TEAS V (Test of Essential Academic Skills) Examination Preparation Course for nursing program candidates. The unique no-wait 120-hour course will be offered year round at all four Miami-Dade (Hialeah, Homestead and Miami) and Broward (Hollywood) county campuses.
Recent media accounts reinforce the continuing nursing shortage in Florida, with approximately 14,000 available nursing jobs that pay an average of $64,000 per year in the state's third largest industry, healthcare. The TEAS V Examination is one of the first steps that all nursing program candidates must take in pursuing their interest in a nursing career. Dade Medical College's unique preparation course offers a sound option that allows all candidates to start immediately at one of four locations with flexible hours.
The course begins with a computer-based TEAS V assessment of the nursing candidate's academic skills and utilizes a TEAS V Study Guide, including three primary modules, English, mathematics and science, each consisting of 40 classroom hours. All candidates are taught best effective practices in test-taking as well as computer-based test taking skills. Following completion of the preparation course, all candidates take a second computer-based TEAS V assessment examination prior to taking the actual computer-based TEAS V examination.
The course is offered Monday through Friday from 6 - 10 p.m. and includes a candidate examination success incentive for first and second time passers of the TEAS V test. Interested candidates are encouraged to contact the admissions department at their chosen campus for more information – Miami (786.363.4910), Hialeah (786.363.3340), Homestead (786.454.9070) or Hollywood (954.843.7930).
